Newly elected SC State Representative Krystle Simmons is a single mother of 5 beautiful children ranging in age from 5 to 15. Originally from Ohio, she has lived in Charleston for eleven years.  She is continually inspired by the diverse and changing culture here in the Lowcountry.

Outside of graciously serving the constituents of District 117 which encompasses Berkeley and Charleston counties, Rep. Simmons has been with the Boeing Company as an engineering planner for 10 years.  She believes that young adults, minorities, women and working families are the backbone of today’s society.

As the youngest minority woman in the House of Reps and single mother, she represents two demographics that she often feels like are the last to be heard, yet most often affected.

She was inspired to run for office and encourage women. Her favorite mantra is:  “Use the tools that you have developed through life experiences to propel yourself into the leadership positions that affect our lives.”
