Lady Joi who was once known as “Stormy” comes to the world of radio and entertainment from the streets of Detroit, Michigan. Born in a city filled with history in music and fine arts, it was obvious that she would have music in her life in some way. She began her career singing at home, school, church and local talent shows, which opened a door for her radio and acting career to begin. Although she set aside her acting career to focus on other things in her young life, it wasn’t until her eighth grade year she started to pay attention to radio
more. When she first heard the John Mason & Company Morning Show Company Morning Show FM 98 in Detroit, she knew that she had found yet another career she wanted to pursue. Lady Joi knew at that moment a spark was set off In her After attending 2 years of formal education to obtain a degree in nursing she received her Associate Degree in Biology. Although she wanted to become a doctor she changed her mind and she started to pursue a career in broadcasting and communications. She currently holds an Associate Degree in Film and TV and a Dual Bachelors degree in Public Relations and Business Administration with a Minor in Entrepreneur Business and French.
Lady Joi’s been in the business for at least 24 years, she began as an intern and a teen reporter at WJLB Fm 98 in Detroit, MI, which led to a gospel mid-day host and morning drive personality at WZJY 1440 Am in Charleston, SC. She then went on to become a morning show producer for the Tom Joyner Morning Show at WMGL Magic 101.7 Fm in Charleston & the Russ Parr Morning Show as WWHV-WWBR Hot 102.1-107.9 in Norfolk/Virginia Beach, VA. As she continued her journey in the world of radio she then went on to become an adult urban radio host for WMGL Magic 101.7 Fm in Charleston, SC. During her change in radio formats she was introduced to her new home that she has loved for the last 4 1/2 years. The world of Hip Hop and R&B urban radio at WWWZ Z-93 Jamz in Charleston, SC & WWHVWWBR Hot 102.1/107.9 in Norfolk/Virginia Beach, Virginia. In January of 2005 Lady Joi was a part of the number Gospel Morning show in the south east, on the Rise-n-Rejoice Morning Show on WJNI Gospel 106.3 Fm in Charleston, SC. Lady Joi has now found a new passion for radio all over again. She returned back to the Cumulus media family in 2013 and is currently hosting her own weekly show on Magic 107.3fm on Sunday mornings called “Magic Inspirations.”
In 2015, Lady Joi was named one of the SC Black Pages Top 40 under 40. Lady Joi is very active in helping out with the empowerment of our youth. She believes that our generation has a responsibility to our youth of today! Lady Joi also speaks out about good health and education for our children. Lady Joi is a strong supporter of the minority community understanding what Sickle Cell is and how you can live with it and be cured. Lady Joi is always encouraging the listeners of the community as a whole to make sure they know the facts and stay updated on what’s going on in the preservation of life. In 2016, Lady Joi created “D.R.E.A.M. Pushers” a conference designed to help women and young girls push out all of their visions, goals, aspirations, and DREAMs!
Lady Joi’s outlook on life is as follows, If I never see my name in Lights, the true testimony is in the life that I have lived, and the giving of my blessings and talents back to my community as a whole!!
